So today I read Psalm 1-5. I found several scriptures that stuck out to me.
But You, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the One who lifts up my head.
I lie down and sleep;
I wake again because the Lord sustains me.
I will both lie down and sleep in peace,
for You alone, Lord, make me live in safety.
There is something so different about night time. Its the time of the day where your supposed to wind down and fall asleep but for me for many many years night time was anxiety. I would have panic attacks and not be able to sleep. I found it very interesting that Psalm 3 is called “Confidence in Troubled Time” and Psalm 4 is called “A Night Prayer”. All of the above scriptures that really stuck out to me were in these two Psalms.
The thing that I do love about night time is that when you go to sleep and wake up in the morning you have a new day. Night is when the body recovers from your days actives. When you wake up in the morning you have a fresh start.
This past year God really helped me with my sleep issues. I can really relate to all three of these scriptures. I’ve been having some breathing issues at night that have brought on some of that anxiety again so these three scriptures really meant a lot to me especially the last one. When I put my head on my pillow tonight I will remember “I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, Lord, make me live in safety.”
