Day 13-Cling To God

Tonight I am reading Psalm 91. I chose to read this Psalm tonight because its about protection. Today has been a crazy day for me. I’ve been in prayer about the flooding in Nashville since I first saw it on the news. Having lived there for a year its just so hard to comprehend. News is different when it hits home and affects your friends. I clicked on the TV today to try and get an update on the flooding and heard about the attempted bombing in times square. Then the news goes from that to the oil spill in the gulf. Click from that and there is a huge thing going on with nuclear weapons. Thats a lot of really bad and scary news to swallow in one news segment. I’m so thankful that bomb in NY did not go off. I know that there were a lot of prayer warriors out there praying because its a miracle that guy bought the wrong fertilizer! Ok back to my point. As I was watching the news and just trying to digest it all and praying about starting up some relief efforts for the flood victims I got to thinking. What if that bomb had gone off. The whole East coast of the United States would be in turmoil. From the flooding to the oil spill to a bomb we wouldn’t know what to do. I’ve heard so many warnings that its going to get worse in the end times well guess what people its getting worse every day and all I can say is I’m so thankful and glad that I have God at the center of my life. If God weren’t the center of my life I would be living in so much fear right now. It’s scary out there.

So I read the Message version of Psalm 91 and verse 14 was worded so perfectly

14 “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.

I think we don’t have an option anymore. We must hold onto Him for dear life. God is true to His word and he is faithful to us. He will get us out of trouble He will take the best care of us. If only we get to know and trust Him. To get to know and trust Him we MUST be in the word. We MUST get to know His promises because when things get rough and scary we MUST cling to them. I’m not writing this post to scare anyone. I’m not trying to put fear in anyone but the news speaks for itself. Cling to God!

My prayers are directed tonight to all those affected by the flooding in Nashville. Most of these people don’t have any flood insurance the financial impact and aftermath as the water starts to recede is unimaginable. Please keep them in your prayers. I’m working on trying to maybe start a water drive. Their water supply is contaminated and they are having to ration water. So please pray that I continue to see God’s guidance in doing this. I’ve never done anything like this in my life but I have to do something. I just can’t sit back and do nothing. Pray that my phone calls are fruitful as I call churches and local businesses in the area to set up donation points. I’m also going to call our TV stations tomorrow and try to raise some awareness. Because there is so much going on in the news right now people really aren’t being made aware of how bad things really are down there. Thanks so much for your prayers.
